Cyber Monday brings with it deals on all sorts of products — but what about the very best? As it turns out, our pick for the very best Thunderbolt dock happens to be 33 percent off today, for a savings of about $100.
The Kensington Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Dock (SD5780T) currently sits atop our roundup of the best Thunderbolt docks as the best overall Thunderbolt docking station. (Here’s our standalone review of the SD5780T.) The dock offers almost everything we could want.
Well, almost. At launch, it was a premium dock at a premium price of $399, and the Cyber Monday deal brings it down to $220.44. That’s actually a savings of 45 percent. (Amazon measures discounts against a “typical” price, whatever that means.)
As our Cyber Monday Thunderbolt dock deals reveal, retailers are dumping older Thunderbolt docks, with a lot of Thunderbolt 3 hardware getting tossed aside. This is actually a newer Thunderbolt 4 dock, though we reviewed it in late 2022.
About the only knock on it is that it has just one dedicated display port; for two displays, you’ll need to invest in a USB-C (Thunderbolt) cable to an HDMI or DisplayPort connection. (Our recommended cable is just $13 for Cyber Monday.) Otherwise it has a nice mix of USB-A and USB-C ports, plus an SD card slot. It doesn’t have a dedicated USB-C charging port, but one of the unused Thunderbolt ports works nicely for that purpose.
I honestly believe that you’ll see lots of good discounts on Thunderbolt docks this holiday season, but on top-of-the-line hardware? Maybe not.
